The charming fishing village of Finnsnes serves as the gateway to Senja, an island boasting year-round adventure. Accessible by the Gisund Bridge, Norway's second-largest island hosts a myriad of activities, thanks to a mix of mountains, beaches, lakes and forests. In the summer, consider hiking, kayaking, cycling or lounging beachside, while winter excursions include skiing, dog-sledding, whale watching and boat trips seeking the northern lights. Senja also is home to the world's northernmost zoo. Finnsnes offers plenty of fishing opportunities and features the Finnsnes House of Culture, the region's performance hall. Nearby cities Tromso and Harstad are just a short boat ride away with breathtaking scenery along the way. The midnight sun is visible from late May through late July, allowing visitors the opportunity to enjoy 24 hours of daylight.
