Milwaukee is situated on Lake Michigan and is Wisconsin's largest city. The first Europeans to pass through the area were French missionaries and fur traders, although Milwaukee's population boom began during the 1840s when waves of German immigrants settled in the city, bringing with them the art of beer brewing. Today, Milwaukee's German heritage and brewing culture remain strong, and a tour of the Miller Brewery's brewhouse, packaging center and beer garden is one of the city's most popular attractions. Other attractions include Miller Park, home of major league baseball's Milwaukee Brewers, the Historic Third Ward, a rehabilitated warehouse district with trendy lofts and stylish boutiques, and the Milwaukee Riverwalk, a pedestrian walkway located downtown along the Milwaukee River.
